Doesn't answer your question reallly, but I've climbed 20%-25% gradients in my I4.

I'm not completely sure, but I think it has enough power to make it dependent on the tires your using, more than the car it's self. On a steep incline the weight would be shifted to the rear, away from the drive wheels, eventually you would just be spinning the wheels.

I'm guessing with good ties it could do 35% slowly.

I've got no trouble doing a 30% on a running start. It's only that steep for less than a 1/4 of a mile though. 25% is definitely no problem.
