3rd Generation Replacing 3VZFE Thermostat

Hi

I would like to replace my thermostat on my 3VZFE camry.

Thermostat location is on the driver's side front of the engine? (bear in mind the car is Right Hand Drive from Australia.
Do I just follow the bottom hose from the rad to the block?

Anyone's got a link or step by step procedure DIY to replace a thermostat?

Also that sensor or the thermosta housing is the one that controls the hydraulic fan as well right? might replace that as my Hydraulic fan is not speeding up.

Thank you in advance

G,day mate.

Yeah, Thermostat is on driver's side of the engine block, sorta near the bottom. You'll have to remove the windscreen wiper bottle out so you can get to it, pain in the arse really, I ended up getting my mechanic to do it instead :P

The sensor that controls the rad fan is indeed hydraulic, the connector is actually on the power steering pump which I believe you can only access from under the car. There should be a white connector. If there's a problem where the fan doesn't go full blast, then it might be related to that relay or the wiring back to the ECU - not too sure.

I had the same problem as yourself, I only live in Caloundra on the Sunny Coast if you need any help. If not, head to www.auscam.org too if you wanna talk to the Aussie Camry drivers, most of us are from S/E Qld too mate.

I just joined!

I checked that white connector thing on the power steering pump as I read here thats the common fault is leaving it disconnected, but mine is actually connected. So what else to check and how to get my fan working properly?

Maybe re-seat the connection as well... but it might not exactly be HOT enough for the solenoid to open up that's all. I'm in the same boat as you mate... I can actually GRAB my fan when I turn the car off... it goes a bit quicker when sitting half way on the temp gauge.

Only time I noticed it going full bore was when I was doin 120km/hr from Byron right into Brissy city... stopped at Margaret St and stuff. Car started getting hotter from the engine doin all that work... fan kicked in not long after.
