dome light will not shut off ???

dome light will not shut off ???unless i switch it off !!!

The door pins do register on the dash.
It doesn't turn off the dome light it gives me the door open indicator on the dash. if i have the doors open.Why wont the shut off???

Remove the door pins from each door and check them for rust on the back. The pins simply complete the circuit when the door is open causing the dome light to go on. There may be enough rust on the backside so that the rust is bridiging the normal gap that is there when the door is closed and thereby completing the circuit. Clean them up with a wire brush and use some dielectric grease so that the rust should not return.

if its the door pins ....wouldnt the light on the dash the shows the door open not work?which it does ...if you open the dorr it will turn on if closed it turns off.just checking?

I think for now, just remove the bulb until you get a chance to take the panels off.
