3rd Generation

this reminds me, I stumbled upon this on TN yesterday:
http://www.ststurbo.com
considering the tight space under the hood of a gen3 V6, the low price relative to other turbos, and the fact that I could do without an intercooler (at first) make it seem quite attractive.
Would anyone like to contribute their thoughts?

well first of all, he wants NA. second, hes rockin the 5sfe so theres tons of room avalible under the hood. otehrs have showed intrest in the sts but no one has done it yet...for good reasons. if you have questions about it...feel free to search through the threads about it or start your own thread.

Ive seen something like that done on a corvette were the turbos were were the mufflers would be.

Problem is, more piping = loss of boost. Only a couple psi but when your barely boosting a stock camry that really matters.

The vette had alotta boost so the 2psi gone wasnt a big of a deal.

if ur gonna go rear mount, hit the junkyard, get a saab turbo, get the saab(bosch) blow off valve, grab the intercooler if you want. weld the turbo inline with your exhaust...purchase an oil pump then get an exhaust shop to fab u the pipe...

all you pay for with sts is the turbo and the flange i guess... just weld a turbo inline with your exhaust, fab up your pipes get an oil t to screw in where your oil sending unit is, get a steel braided oil line and an oil pump. BAM turbo setup done. grab some junkyard injectors from something more powerful and a stronger fuel pump, or spring for a walbro. turbo doesn't have to be crazy expensive. the junkyard kit can work just as well. to go all out just rebuild the turbo. same setup connected to the manifold not rear mount on a b series crx destroyed a turbo supra... i saw it with my own eyes. it's all about the quality of your setup and how you run your pipe and all that...stock wastegate on those is like 5 or 6 psi so you'll be good.

oh yea bigbird... it's already lowered too. d'oh forgot.

this is no honda. theres very little similar between a budget build on a honda motor and one on the 5sfe. nearly every buget turbo build we've seen come through has failed or was never completed. mostly because of the "other" stuff which is just as important as the turbo itself, people cheap out on. never consider a turbo build cheap and youll be successful...whether that means you finished or didnt start at all.

when ya say lowered...do you mean springs...or springs, shocks, TRD sway bar, and polly bushings(people mean different things by "lowered")? because just lowereing isnt an improvement at all unfortunatly. if ya dont have all that id start with thoes parts, or at least better shocks and RSB. suspension is the best bang for the buck youll get.
