keyless remote for 1995 camry with auto locks

Hi,

My daughter has a 1995 toyota camry V6 station wagon, which she just bought........... it has the "auto-lock" function, and the "security" indicator on the center console (just above the shifter). it's a rectangle indicator that says security at the top, a red dot in the center, and toyota at the base. The center indicator doesn't light up as far as I can tell. Since it has auto-locks which are powered, is it possible for me to buy a keyless remote and somehow program it to her car? i wanted to get this as a safety feature for her, especially at night so she can get into the car quicker.

Thanks again,

Rick

you can get a keyless entry aftermarket system for around 100-150 bucks for a decent one. Even remote start for around that price.

Yes this can be done. I did it on my Scion a couple years ago. Mine did not work like a oem version. When you pressed the unlock button for example and the door was already unlocked it got the remote out of synch with the door, or something like that. I remember I had ocassions where I had to use the key to unlock. Mine was cheap as you may have guessed. I would go to a car stereo installation dealer and see if they offer it. I'm sure they have one better than the one I had.

Rick, the OEM RS3000 alarm (one in the wagon) locks/unlocks the doors. Did you not get a remote for it?

My friend with a '96 Camry I;m goignt o visit has the same alarm, and I picked up a remote for him and goign to see if it works. I have the OEM alarm book with programing instructions and features from my dad's '96 Camry with the alarm. If you'd like, I'll take pictures of every page and email them to you. Just let me know.

Hi, I would really appreciate the insight you get from the 96 Camry programming. I wasn't sure if I could buy a remote and just program it to her car, or if I needed to add a "kit". This isn't my area of expertise...... So if I understand you right, my daughter's car has an OEM RS3000 alarm in it? and you're right, when she bought the car, they didn't have the remote .......just a plain key that they had previously made. I hope this information is helpful and my daughter also is very greatful. If you're successful on your programing, pictures would be great........................are remotes easy to buy?

Yeah, they have them on ebay. I just checked, and all the ones listed are a lot of $ right now. Send me a Private Message with your email address. I'll take pictures of the entire manual and send them.
