Allignment with bad strut?

My mechanic told me I have a bad strut. It makes a little noise but it's not too noticeable. Is it possible that this will damage/wear my new tires unevenly?

Also, I plan on buying new tires in a few days. Mine are about to burst and winter is coming along so it's a necessity. I need to get an allignment done because my current tires are tread very unevenly. If I were to replace the strut farther down the line (once I get a steady income), this would void the allignment and I'd have to do another, correct?

1. Struts should be replaced in pairs. Both fronts or both backs. This keeps the suspension from having unusual handling characteristics.

2. A damaged strut, depending on what part is damaged, can cause the tire to wear unevenly. If the strut itself is gone (not the strut mount) the tire on that side will bounce a great deal. That bouncing will cause the tire to cup in spots.

Why not get the friend who did you timing belt and seals for you to replace the pair of struts (both front or both back). Then get the tires replaced, and then do the alignment.
