3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I need to fix my dad suspension. I ordered KYB strut for him already. I wonder which spring should I buy for him. He doesn't want to lower the car. Is there anything close to the oem spring, or I have to order the OEM spring from toyota. He has 134k miles on his car already.
You should not have a problem with using the used one you have on the car.
The problem is that all 4 have sunken over the years and miles, a new one wouldn't match the other three. So unless the spring itself is damaged or you are replacing all 4 corners, you should be okay with using the old spring.

If he doesn't want it lowered, then you'll have to get a set of OEM springs. Any aftermarket spring would lower it. Fumes is right though. The springs have sagged a bit over the years, so if he's ok with the current ride height, you may be able to get a set of aftermarket springs with the least amount of drop. I think 1" is the smallest drop I've seen, and that's the most KYB's will handle anyway.

if you want your cake and to eat it too. try to order some gen3(92-96) SE springs. same ride hight but stiffer. if your tryin to save money on them though then the eibachs may be a good choice if hes ok with a fairly stiff ride. they dont drop much.
Tien H-Tech springs won't lower it much either, the specs for lowering are ~0.9" front and ~0.1" rear. But they're pretty expensive compared to other brands.
According to various online catalogs. The sedan/coupe/wagon all use the same rear struts and therefore they can use the two different version of springs. (check to verify)
Looks like the wagon springs are the stronger version. So you may be able to order Raybestos or Moog springs from rockauto.com (if you don't want to buy them from the dealer).
You may want to consider changing out the rubber parts as well. Are the mounts working ok?
Rockauto's catalog suggests the Raybestos fronts are $73 a pair (?) and rears $86 plus shipping.

Will the KYB + H&R OE sport springs give the car a handling like a Gen 6 SE? If it is, my dad will be okay with it, he didn't have a problem when driving my 08 se. I hope that 1" drop won't give him that much trouble when driving in the snow. Also, I visual checked the springs today, they're in good condition. I didn't see rust but not sure about sagging, I couldn't tell from the visual check. For 134k miles, would they be okay to be re-used?
I've got KYB's and original springs with 146K on them. I have no problems with handling. Then again I also have a Whiteline RSB, and Whiteline strut bar.
