did water pump,now won't start....

This past Sunday,i was driving when all of a sudden the car was almost to the point of overheating.It started stalling ,then turned off.Luckily i was able to coast it to a parking spot.After about an hour, I added water and she started right up,but still was getting hot.Turns out the water pump went out.So i took everything apart,installed water pump,assembled everything.I did have the battery disconnected all night too.I tried to start it the next day and it had a rough idle and idled at around 400 rpm for about 4-5 seconds then died.I double-checked the timing marks and they were way off.I finally got them right on now,and the car doesn't want to start at all,no backfires,no nothing, I even tried starting fluid,nothing.What else can I check to see what's wrong,I need this car A.S.A.P.! 95 le

I think the 95 has a distributor so check to see that its right on timing.

the dist has never been moved since i got the car.

Did you line up timing with the V notch? Theres also a circle type dot that could be mistaken for the timing notch but its not.

This is if you have the 4 cyl.

that's what i've been aligning it to! Is this dot at around the 9 o'clock position? where's this v notch at?

are you sure it's not the dot? this post shows it as being the dot. My Timing Belt Job (Pics) 56k go away

Nope. Rotate the camshaft and it should "pop" sort of in 4 positions. Rotate it clockwise untill it "pops" into the v notch position. Its that simple, its about at the 11 or 12 ish position, use some engine degreaser to clean it up if you can see to well.

The dot is 110% not it. The dots about a 1/8 turn counterclockwise from the notch.
