Does anyone have any good suggestions for an exhaust for a 4 cyl 99 camry, i dont want it to sound like a friggin ricer, but i want it to sound some what nice. a friend of mine has a newer scion tc with an exhaust and it doesnt sound bad, i know that the engine is a 2.4L in that car and mine is a 2.2L but any ideas?
I went with a stock IS300 muffler and I think mine sounds fantastic. I have a V6 though. Just a though but I have heard the Flowmaster Super 44 is great sounding. The 80 series is supposed to be pretty quiet until you get on it. I had also a Cherry Bomb Turbo on my 96 Park Avenue and it sounded fantastic with no annoying drone unless it had a fairly open throttle.
but i dont want it to sound like a ricer, the link for the youtube vid i posted on here kinda sounds like a subaru a little which i like. but here is the link again
Any muffler is gonna sound a little ricey because it is in fact going on a small rice-burner motor. Flowmaster probably the least so, but they are more expensive. Cherry bomb if you want it to be loud
What do you consider rice? Something raspy and high pitched? There are small displacement motors that sound nothing like "rice." Anywho, Magnaflow, TRD, and Apex'i are what I'd suggest. Just keep in mind that you won't gain more power by just adding a muffler.
i dont want anything raspy, or high pitched, im not looking for power just a nicer sound, do you have an exhaust clip of your car? you have a 4 cylinder right?
I have the 4cyl auto. It's custom 2.25" piping with aftermarket resonator to the Apex'i N1 universal non-turbo muffler. I had 2 Magnaflows which were both quiet and sorta deep. The current setup now is aggressive and deep. When I downshift it has a similar tone to a 350Z/Infiniti FX. Anywho, I posted a few clips in this thread so you can hear for yourself:
The first two clips were recorded on my camera so the sound has less bass. The last clip is more accurate since I used a camcorder but the engine is pretty much idling.
Sounds like a bit of a fart :P ... I have a 4 inch Zetti cannon on my 3VZ... loud, monstrous... GREAT note, but prob gotta add a resonator/hotdog to the pipe.

Like I said the camera doesn't do the best job with capturing the bass so it does sound raspy in the vid. Either way, def get a resonator for your setup and it should sound smoother than it does now.

Yeah I have clips on my comp but the exhaust tone sounds different when the engine is pulling a load/accelerating. It'll be awhile once I upload them since I'm on vacation during the next 3 weeks.
i tried apexi ws2 universal, greddy evo2, and magnaflow on my 2000 camry I4 auto. i think magnaflow and greddy evo2 sound nice on my camry. the apexi ws2 is kind quiet for me.
