NEED HELP!!! 1993 Camry V6. Tranny or Torque Converter problem???

Alright guys )))) I am Gary and i got a 1993 Camry V6 with 170,000 miles on it. Got if for $600 from old lady. Basically, car has a problem. Here is what is going on. When i am starting the engine and putting on "D" to drive, the car does not want to move, it is making some kind of girding noise comming from tranny, BUT, sometimes, when i just starting the engine and putting on drive and PRESSURE builds up in the tranny , i can drive it until i will stop the car and then it might go again or not))))))) Basically, it might be a torque converter ( i think), or a tranny pump. Today, i was drivind and it did not want to go more than 25-35 MPH, when i press the gas pedal to the floor, car starts accelerating until 35 MPH and then engine reved until 6-7K rpms ( Like i press the clutch on manual tranny to shift) and it stop acceleration and it was not drivable again until i did not shut down the engine and start it again. The tranny oil is kind of dark, but it is okay. What do you guys think??? Tranny or TC???

does it matter? Either way, the tranny will need to be pulled at a minimum. If you keep driving it like this and it has low pressure, you will ruin the transmission clutches and bands if you haven't already done so. Put in a reman'ed or used trans and a new converter and drive on.

I was thinking just to change the Torque Converter, but either way the tranny has 170000 miles on it. It probably needs some rebuilt and then i will put a brand new converter
