'94 Camry Power seat non-fuctional

Hey folks, I figured I'll post just this question since my other thread got lost in the forums (refer to the first posting in Another Camry Owner)

So the problem I'm facing is that my friend's car (1994 V6 XLE w/ Leather) has a non fuctional power seat. The up (front and back of seat) along with the forward and back function doesn't work. Only thing that works is the recliner. I was able to go to one of the junk yards here and was able to find a 1992 or 1993 V6 XLE (3VZ) Camry with front driver power seats. I'm willing to get the power seat out of the junk yard camry, but do I have to take the entire seat out (one piece) or can I just yank out the power seat motor/gears after i take the seat out (of course)...basically just the power seat parts to replace/fix the one in my friend's camry? Also, is it a common issue for the power seat to fail since I don't want to spend my time taking the seat out only to find it has similar problems.

And yes, I'm in the process of getting a Gen3 Toyota manuel for this car since my friend has two of these cars and I'm usually the one maintaining it..and perhaphs one day own one XD

Thanks in advance!

If it's cheap enough and the right colour, probably easiest to just change out the whole seat. The motors, if that's the issue, on some cannot be easily switched out. Are you sure it's the motors that are the problem? and not to do with the switches? Another thing which I found on one of them on my g/f\s jeep, is if you put one of the motors all the way to the end it 'sticks'. I simply had to take a pair of vicegrips to it and help it along and then all was fine again.
I'd try to ascertain exactly what the cause is and go from there. It may be something simple.

cheers.

Hmm...that could be it. I'll take a look at that. When I try go back futher, it'll make a 'clunk' and thats it. It could be somethign similar to what you said about the motor being all the way at the end. Thanks for the advice.

And I saw your other thread. I'm glad that your okay but the car took most of the beating...That was one nice camry, especially being a '92 w/ 3VZ. RIP...
