Angry Where in the firewall can I get through?

I've been trying to find a hole in the firewall of my 92 XLE for a while and haven't been able to find anything. I only need enough room to run a few wires through, so I didn't think it would be too hard. But the only one I could get access to was the huge grommet behind the driverside front tirewell cover, and that was a shitstorm.
After searching Google/these forums for the subject, I didn't find anything useful. I read that some people drilled through above their brake pedal but I wan't to know specifics before I take a drill to my car, I'm still a little car-shy. Anybody have any suggestions?

What was the problem with the opening in the drivers side wheel well? That's where I ran the power cable for my amp and it worked out great. I've seen lots of folks post that they used that opening for various things.

I used that same giant grommet of bundled wires myself for a few things.
Cut a slit and run a coat hanger through to fish the wire and seal the wire and slit with some sealant.

THat will work, or use the wiring harness that goes through on the passenger side in the that go behind the glove box. Have used that and all worked out fine. Again, just seal the wires/boot when all in place.

Hey mate,

I ended up putting my 4 gauge power cable for the amp through the original wiring loom... comes out behind my glovebox. Mind you, I'm Australian and we drive on the right side of the car and stuff :P

There's normally two nuts that holds the huge grommet onto the firewall... makes it a hell of a lot easier to feed the cable through the harness.

Yep! Exactly why I did it there. They used it when they put in a wire for my remote start, so I investgated further and found it the easiest way to put through my 4ga through for my amp as well. You can easily run through more for lighting etc if you need to.

I gave the fat wire bundle behind the tire well another try, slid a clothes hanger through and it worked like a charm.
