3rd Generation 5sfe manual trans not going into gear

ok people. i know i havent been on here for a long time.
is their anyone had this problem? when coming to a stop the car wont go into 1st, 2. 3. 4. 5 u have to slam the shifter into gear. when i got home checked my fluids. everything is good. i turned the car while its in gear the car didnt go forward. so i dont know if this would be clutch issue? and also when the car is off. i try to put it in gear without the clutch it still wont go in or pressing on the clutch.

If it doesn't go into gear, how do you drive it?

Maybe:
1) The shifter cables are sticking
2) You've bent or damaged the gear change levers
3)Faulty clutch or clutch release mechanism
4)Synchro rings damaged or worn
5)Synchro spring installed incorrectly
6)Synchro sleeves damaged
7)Worn or damaged selector fork
8)Excessive end float in the input or output shaft.

since he says he can't get it into a gear even w/ the engine off, that eliminates the syncros part. also mostly eliminates the clutch as the problem.

also check into the shift bushings on both ends of the cables. if they're gone, the shifter will behave really weird.

baggedcam - when you were last driving it, the clutch DID disengage when you hit the pedal, right? any grinding noises or anything when trying to put it in gear when it's running?
