3rd Generation Front Speakers Blown - speaker shopping round 2

If any of you guys remember, a couple years back, i went shopping to buy myself a set of front door speakers for my camry.

I was limited to 4 inch speakers because thats what i had in the first place, and i ended up buying the Alpine type S 4" speakers.

Now, a couple of days ago, i got a little bit too excited and turned the volume up too much, listening to michael jackson with some friends while cruising and surprise surprise, the right one blew.

Kinda sucks because now i have to replace them. Now for the questions.

MODEL: 1993 camry 5sfe executive (Australian)

it came stock with 4" speakers in the doors (no rear speakers)

is it possible to fit 6" speakers into the doors? and how?

if so, is it simple to do so?

if its not possible to put 6" speakers in the doors, what are the best 4" speakers out there?

(i got my last pair from JB HI-FI and they said the best they had were the Type S - they also told me they wouldnt put 6" into my doors because they wouldnt fit right. Frankly i'm hoping they are wrong... Last time they installed my speakers, they phased my speakers inconsistently.)

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

wow!

if only you replied one day before oh well...

im still curious though, because i went to one shop, and they said even with spacers, the speaker wont fit under interior door trim without some custom work.

anyone mind taking a picture of their interior door trim so i can compare with my cam? thanks.

well i dont think he was an idiot, because i actually brought the car into his garage, and we took the door trim off to expose the speaker. it was a 4 inch speaker in a plastic bracket, kinda like the thing on ebay but 4 inch.

we screwed on a temporary 6 inch spacer type bracket and tried to put the door trim back on, just to see if it would fit. the bottom of the door trim was about a cm from being in place because the bracket was pushing up against a contour of the door trim.

that is why i would like to see a camry with 6" speakers at the front's door trim so i can compare and hopefully make adjustments.

6.5's would be a big step up, I hope you can find a way to make them fit, but have you also considered a small amp for the fronts? It can go a long way towards sounding much better, and not blowing the new set.

I'll explain. When you turn it up too far the amp inside of the head unit just stops at a certain point so instead of having a nice musical AC sine wave, you have clipping. Clipping is like the power just hits a ceiling. Here is a picture:

You can see that the AC sine wave turns to DC at the top and bottom of the wave. This heats up the coil like nothing else, because it greatly extends the total time the coil is exposed to the full output of the amp. With a larger amp, even if it is giving out more power, it is doing so without clipping, so that power is for less time, and more importantly the coil is in full motion the whole time, so it is cooled by moving air.

And now back to the other problem...

thank you abew for posting the pics, i will take pics of my door soon so i can show you the differences.

as for the amping thing, i have considered amping my setup, and will probably do so once i get the money, but i was just wanting to be able to have a bigger set of speakers for sound staging purposes, not really for volume. having the 4 inchers are fine at the front, if im listening to most songs, but my problem lies when i am listening to a song with a deeper voice as the lead... it kinda annoys me when it feels like the voice is coming from behind.
