I would suggest you try a throttle body cleaning, paying particular attention to spraying the cleaner liberally down in to the hole in the base of the throttle body. That hole leads to the idle air control valve, where your problem may exist. Here's a thread on how to do it on the 4 cylinder 5SFE engine. The V6 is pretty much the same:

Agreed with Mike. I've read that the IAC can give you some crazy issues if dirty.

I just cleaned my throttle body and my car runs a lot better.

And by low idle, how low exactly?

When I clean the TB on my 3VZ, I also clean the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). There's a small hose coming off the air intake before the butterfly clip that bypasses the clip and connects into the intake plenum itself.

I went to town on the IAC valve... musta used a stack of TB cleaner. In America, they use Seafoam a lot... we don't have that stuff here. We just use any kind of TB cleaner.

Once you connected the IAC hose back onto the valve, start the car (might not start first time) - keep trying to start it and once it has, let it idle for a while. You'll get a nice "smoke effect". Works for me
