I did a search but only found a DIY for Gen 4. Is it the same thing?

I'd like to replace it with an LED light...possibly white. Or would another color look better?

Gen 4 thread says LED # 74 is the one. Correct?

yes #74 is the correct one. when you pry off the trim surrounding the gearbox, there is a black piece under it with 4 clips i believe, which encases the top of the bulb and also surrounds the shifter. you just have to lift the clips up to get the top piece off and the bulb will be on the left side of the black piece. be careful not to drop the bulb inside the gearbox area as I did! was a real pain in the ass to find lol.

you can just pull the bulb out of the socket once the top of the black piece is removed. any questions you can PM me, or just ask on this thread.
