My retrofit (progress may be slow)

Just bought these projectors, I've wanted to do a retro for about 10 months now and I stumbled upon a pretty good deal it looks like. I have 9006 6k HIDs in my 98 Avalon (clear headlights) now, so all I will need is new d2s bulbs and an adapter since there D1S projectors, no new ballasts.

I'm going for a minimalist approach, no fancy eye candy like an LED eyebrow turn signal or CFCL angel eye. I'm planning to kinda make it like this: DIY Projector Headlights for GEN 4 Camry **56K WARNING** Maybe a bit more clean and structured.

I'm kinda nervous to dismantle my stock headlights but I know I have you guys to back me up and I have read a lot of fourms from all over the web, I'll post pics when the package arrives and keep taking pictures after that!

If you are nervous about modifying stock headlights, it might not be a bad idea to buy a 2nd set on Ebay. At least for the Camry Gen4.0 you can get a pair of headlights for under $50 shipped. Then you have a backup set of headlights in case something goes wrong.

Well my projectors came in only three days, and there is good news and bad news. The good news is the cutoff is sharp, crisp, and without glare. The bad news is that there are only two mounting points, which means I will have to fashion a brace of some kind.

I don't have a tripod anymore so I can't get a picture of the cutoff projected onto my neighbors house, but by the time I get done with this project I will.

Feeling the urge to work on this project even though I still lack d2s bulbs and a d2s to PnP ballast adapter, I used a headlight restore kit that I got for $20 at Wal-Mart on a my drivers side headlight which was foggy. It took about 20 minutes of careful labor but I was impressed with the results. The kit came with enough to do 4 headlights (although it only advertised that it could do two). I did my drivers side of my Avalon as well as both my mom's lights on her 2000 Chrysler Town & Country that needed it desperately. I took before and after shots for anyone considering this process.
