Please Help!

ok so some guy dropped off his camry i think its a 96 not sure w/e it needs a new tranny among other things and its a 5spd which i didnt even know camrys came with, now its got the 5s in it, just like my old celica had, beings im having trouble finding another stick camry can i just use one outta a 6th gen celica? will everything be the same from the same motor? cause i know when i broke the trans in my 91 celica and the shifter cables (different times) i had to get a tranny from like 6-90 to 8-91 celica nothing else worked it was a super pain in the ass to find, anyone know?

As a first idea, go to: http://www.car-part.com and input the data for the car. You will see by the responses which years and models are interchangeable according to salvage yard software. These should be an easy swap. It may be possible to swap others, but they will likely require some modification.

there are a few... the lucky few... that has done a auto trans ---> to 5 spd stick swap
not sure what manual trans they used.. but i think it was from a newer car. maybe solara

s53 was used. you can use the celica trans from the 5s and 3s. the mr2 has the shift linkages on the wrong side and needs to have the casing modded. also the e153 can be used with a wider ratio. the 2az should even work too i think that has a s53 in it but with 3 synco's instead of 2 that the one in there?
