Knocking noise over 1700 RPM 02 Camry

I have a knocking noise in my 2002 Camry that appears above 1700 RPM and gets slightly louder as the RPM increase. The car still runs fine; i.e. acceleration, power, engine firing. I had a couple of opinions and got the computer codes. It says that all pistons are misfiring. Is this the engine rod or something else. If it is the engine rod is it more cost effective to replace the rod/rebuild engine myself or buy a used engine and install it myself. Could it also have something to do with valves?

Nope. That's a straight up engine knock. The people who looked at your car were right. If your car has not gotten to the point where the whole dang car shakes and it sounds more like an obnoxious crashing sound more than a knock, depending on how much you drive the car a day you have about 2000 miles left. If it has gotten to the point of what I described above... she's dead buddy. Do not drive it anymore unless you would like to have a whole bunch of other crap break and have your engine seize. I would not recommend replacing the rods or rebuilding the engine unless you have a ton of experience in that department. I would actually say purchase a used engine and swap it out. Like I said, if it's not dead already, unfortunately it will be soon. And you'll know what I'm talking about when it happens if it hasn't happened already. So seriously, when you notice it happening, do yourself a favor and make arrangements to have the engine swapped. Just saving your wallets life by saying that man. Good luck.
