do you think i can find a chrome '14"' decal for the fender?
i picked up these boat anchors for $40 (center caps and lug nuts included). i washed, wirebrushed, sanded, primed and painted these stockers to a dark grey. new tires are being delievered today so i need to finish the two remaining rims, mount and balance the tires then im good to go! wahoo!
wow those are looking pretty good actually. i think you should of left the lip chrome, or maybe chrome it out and get a high glossy black in the spokes that just me though. get a BBS cap haha!
Did you paint the mounting surface and the back of the rim as well ?
some paint did end up on the contact surface for the lugs, but i will strip that off before i put them on the car. i did paint the backside of the wheels (not the mounting surface), but i didnt spend much time or effort being its the back side.

well, this and body work. the fender is fixed, "new" trim and wheel well installed and i do have a new bumper cover, but i was only able to find one in red. so it will be painted before that gets installed.

Just an FYI. Those are generation 3 Camry rims that were put on the 4 cylinder XLE models. I still have the original set on my 94 XLE. They have a textured finish on them that makes them hard to keep clean. That's why your's probably looked so nasty when you got them. Great find for $40.
i used duplicolor's (i think) wheel paint. there was a lighter grey that looks like typical silver that is on most cars, but since the camry is dark green, i felt like a darker color. hey, to each their own. thanks for all of the comments!
mike - that textured finish did hold a lot of the junk. im hoping between 3 coats of grey and 2 clear coats, this will help discourage dirt and brake dust from hitching a free ride.
get some tires on those bad boys and get 'em on the car!

How did you do the lugnuts? Did you have a buffing wheel handy or did you do this by hand.
Mike
the bench grinder you can sort of see in the background has a wire wheel. this made cleaning them nice and easy. *edit* they will also be strayed with rust inhibitor to slow down the rust.
tires just arrive a day ago! i still have to paint the 2 other rims, but i need to have these on my car by next weekend because of a 1200 mile trip. im white water rafting and mountain biking this weekend so i wont be around. stay tuned for photos of them installed within a week.

yay. rims are on the car and she drives nicely down the road. didnt realize how noisy the old tires were. i must say i like the way they came out, as long as you stand about10 feet away.
tires are yokohama avid trz 195/70-14. just for reference, these were $274 for the set minus $40 for the rebate ($234 for you non-math people) then was $69 to mount and balance. yes, i could have done the sticky-back wheel weights, but i had them fall off on another car so opted for the weights along the lip. cheers!
