4th Generation Top speed

I have tryed to max out my gen 4 camry I got to 115 mph . I figured I couldn't go passed 115 because I had a hole in my intake and I needed a tune up so I did a tune up put in a weapon r intake and tryed again. Same problem. When I'm at 115 the engine lowers it's speed but remains at 115. So I'm assuming something is wrong with my carmy or it's just the top speed limiter. What's the fastest you took yours to and has this happen to anyone before?

I was wondering the samething.

I went about 120 in my 2.2/auto . It felt like it could still do some more.

My 2000 camry topped out at 116mph according to the GPS. It shifted lower once I hit that.

I rarely see this kind of thread in Toyota Forum, especially in Camry forum

Just dont go too far guys, a similar thread in gen 5-6 section got locked because the Mod thought it's promoting unsafe driving habit

isnt the top speed regulator aka the Governor...

and I rented a Pontiac G6 GT 6cyl one weekend to go up to my Navy drill for the weekend then go down to the airport to fly out to Florida for vacation... the thing topped out at 107mph according to my radar detector, and it wouldn't go any higher. once the needle hit between 105-110, you could feel a subtle jerk, and the needle just stayed there. such bullshit lol

Why do you really need to go faster, especially in a Camry, unless your at the track or something, it's really unnecessary. Plus, there's not much power at that high end range for the 4cyl's anyways.

HKS has a speed limit defencer:
