wats good toyota nation. well like the title says i killed two TOYOTA transmissions. the first time ya my dumbass was puttin the autotragic transmission in neutral on hills to save gas.... save me a grip of gas money but killed the tranny.... almost worth it. but i got a newish tranny wit 74k miles on it from strickter automotive right? we installed it in a day (pulled from the bottom) and crossed all the t's and dotted the i's the next day. well its been about a mounth and a half and my tranny blew two days ago. sorry i didnt tell yall sooner busy wit work and school.

im still a newish member and ive been meanin ta post some pics but its a basic i4 97 camry LE. i wanted ta post pics after the v6/manual tranny swap and the body kit so you guess have somethin new to look at to love/hate but fuckin trannies keep dyin.

i did everything right. put a bottle and a half in of tranny fluid let run for 10 minutes. then checked level. took it around the block came back, checked level filled and waited another 10 minutes. checked level and took around the block again... did this three or four times till at full level. then took car home... month and a half TADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will putting an auto transmission in neutral while going down a hill burn it up?

Only killed one. For some reason it did not like 12psi of boost. Was a bit costly but it certainly was enjoyable.

i am sad to say i broke two transmissions on two different cars. one was on my 1989 ford tempo. originally tranny went at 60k miles. rebuilt failed again at 98k. junked the car. my 1993 grand am's died at 132k miles, then the rebuilt went just over a year later at 151k. sold that vehicle for parts.

ive never actually installed a transmission myself. did you buy a warranty for the used tranny?

Much faster than not. Autos aren't really made to "coast" in nuetral, just leave it in drive when you go down hills

blew the transmission then bought a bemmer lol dats fuckin great.

yes neutral kills autotragic transmissions. when the car is rolling in nuetral its noth throwing the tranny fluid where it needs to be to lube everything. i did this for at least two and half years... good by automatic trannsmissions 1 & 2...

on the bright side i decided ta start doin the v6/manual swap. jus gotta finish gettin all the parts i need.

P.S.
how the hell did you blow a tranny on a '07 camry???

He's got a 07 V6 transmission (Aisin U-660E). Those transmissions skip gears and flare straight from the factory. Consumer Reports dropped recommendation because of it. They came dead from the factory.

Yeah I actually remember hearing something about that. Someone was also telling me that they tried to match the v6 with a standard tranny but the clutch would burn out so quickly that they never made it to production

Interesting...
I used to put the car in neutral when exiting highway, as well as traffic light idle! The tranny still works at 100k miles! LOL

Shoot, toyota is really going downhill. I remember the gen 3 camrys. Bulletproof. Now, not so much. Only reason my 94's blew was because I did the whole nuetral thing like you all, and it still went 250k miles.

That's interesting. I thought in P and N very little is engaged. So there shouldn't be a problem of slipping like trying to push-start an automatic.

In fact, the torque converter at least should rotate as a whole, so a noise problem that goes away when shifted to P or N usually means it's not the torque converter.

???
