Im contemplating putting white footwell lights in the camry, and I want it to function much like the 3 way switch on the dome. Is this possible & where can I tap in for both left & right footwell lights? Thanks!

damn.
i guess it would it be more convient then to run from an always live 12V, & just run a switch.
idk, I prolly would need to wire the lights from the negative on the dome than to have it work. =/
right? or both the (+) & (-) leads & have to wire it back down, I'm a little fuzzy on how the dome works.
the 12V for the dome runs through the A-Pillar?

Do you want the lights to turn on when you open the door? Thats doable.
Take off the dome light . Theres a 2 pin connector. Splice or shove your wiring into the connector. Its that simple. When you open the door the switches in the doors close the ground and the lights turn on. If you want constant 12v from that source simply splice into the positive on the dome and ground it to the ground screws on the dome light.
I did this to my gen 4 last weekend so if you got any questions fire away.
What if you ran a constant 12 to a relay and got the input from the illuminated key ring? Just a thought. I havent really payed much attention to it but lit up seems to be at the right times when you would want.

Yeah, I thought of that too.
It seems it would be PITA to reach though, either that or I'm just scared.

The electrical diagram shows its a green-red wire going directly to the bulb but can't say if iv ever seen it. A couple constant 12v wires are in that area behind the key cylinder also.
Thanks, do you think the fading function would cause any issue with the LED's?
But, I would also like to be able to turn these lights on at all times, Im kinda comfused.
Other than wiring speakers & a headunit I havent strayed into splicing car wiring.

.
Your lights fade? If using a input wire to a relay the LEDs will just turn off and on. The LEDs I have used on dash gauges fade just fine with the dimmer switch though. You could also put a switch in the input with the key light just put a diode in the wire going up to the key light so the key light stays off when you turn the switch on.
