Red face 1999 Camry - L/R Turn Signals not working

Hello,

I've tried just about everything i could find on this forum to try and diagnose why my Left and Right Turn Signals are not working, i replaced all the TS bulbs, the little Flasher unit near the left floor kickplate, pulled and checked all the fuses, pulled out the TS switch from the steering column, opened that up and checked for anything broken, but didn't see anything obvious, but there is a little plastic piece in there with a slight U shaped edge that i'm wondering about, ie if that is actually broken cos it just sits in there stand alone? And also the Emergency flasher does work, so i'm wondering if the Emergency flasher works, does that mean the FUSE for the Turn Signal is OK? or does the Flasher have a different fuse than the Turn Signal per chance?

Oh and i also went to the library and looked at the wiring diagram and tested the 3 little electrical connector prongs with my volt meter and what's interesting there is that none of those 3 prongs registered any power even when i touched the to a ground, whereas the other prongs in the switch, i think related to the headlights did register power when i touched them to ground!

Now i would go out and buy a new TS swith right now if i could be sure that the switch was bad, but since i don't see any power coming out of any of the 3 prongs which i think are associated with the TS switch i thinking it might be something else?

Does anyone have any suggestions on any other checks i can do to verify that the TS switch is actually bad and by TS switch i mean the switch on the steering column that you manually flip up and down.

Thanks for any ideas on this! and the reason i'm pinching pennies on this is because i about ready to take my Camry in for a timing belt and emissions fix with will apparently cost me over $1000!
