3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Does anyone know if the door panels from a 2006 are the same as from a 1999 (i.e., 5th gen into a 4th gen)?
I've got a 1999 for which I'm trying to find a leather interior. On EBay, a guy is selling door panels from a 2004 that he says will fit a 2001-2006. Since the 2001 is a fourth gen, I wonder if they kept the interior door dimensions the same while changing the exterior. If that's the case, I've seem a complete interior (seats, door panels, console) from a 2006 that I'd love to drop into my 1999.
I didn't think it possible, but.... is it? Thoughts? Thanks.
I really doubt toyota would allow a carryover with consoles & such, I'm not sure, never been in a 5th Gen, but doesnt the 4th Gen have the "hump" in the rear passenger footwells?

sadly thats not unexpected, didn't we get a question about putting an integra bumper on a Camry like 2 weeks ago?

obvious typo in the ebay listing. gen5 = 2002 to 2006. many ebay sellers are junkyard operators and don't have the best info for parts interchange, or will make simple errors like this.

Yeah, figured as much. How 'bout just the front and rear seats from a Gen 5 - skip the door panels and console. Anyone know if they match up? I'm really not equipped for a bunch of welding to reconfigure rails (etc) if they aren't a match. However, if they do swap, those alone would be a sweet leather upgrade to my 220k mile cloth seats.
The front seats would fit with custom made brackets. The rears... not so much.
Why dont you just have a shop re-wrap the seats in leather and the door panels redone with leather inserts? That would be much easier. Maybe more expensive, but much easier.
