Canada Camry Clicks, then starts on a second crank

Can someone help me diagnose my 1994, 2.2 camry LE problem please?

Symtoms
----------

turn key, just a click. no sound of the engine starting. turn the key immediately after again, sometime weak sounding, but it starts anyway. oddly, today my car was working ok again - but I know something is about to break.

battery was ok when tested

Basically, I figure its either the starter or alterntor, but i dont know which, as i am not a mechanic by trade or anything.

is the above an obvious starter or alternator issue?

one more clue (may help) when i turned the car off the other day it seemed as if the car was still running

THANKS

Sounds like it might be the starter solenoid contacts.

I just replaced my org starter early this year. Same problem as you descript here.

After replace, everything looks good.

yup.. the single click is a dead giveaway for the starter solenoid contacts. $20 and maybe an hour's labor and you'll be good for at least another 100k miles.
