1993 Toyota Camry LE V6 Blowing White Smoke

My Camry recently was having problems turning over and is blowing white with a bluish tint from the tail pipe. It feels like it still has power but the smoke itself comes out every time I start up the car.

Any ideas what this may be?

If more information is needed please let me know, I dont know a ton about cars but can provide information figure out what the problem is, and how expensive it usually is.

My Camry has about 146k miles on it.

does the smoke go away right after startup and how large is the "cloud"? most common problem in this situation is worn valve guide seals. with that, the smoke will clear up right after initial startup.

Yeah its just a start up smoke, and the mechanics looking at it said it didnt even smoke for them when they started it up... which is weird. The cloud was pretty bad though it was very noticeable .

It stalled as well.

Yeah, like others said, if it goes away within 5 seconds or so, it's most likely leaky valve stem seals. And the reason it won't do it all the time is because it depends on a few things. If the leaking seal is on a valve that's open when the engine is stopped, the oil drips down on the piston and burns when the motor is started. If the valve is closed, and it's an exhaust valve, the oil won't drip into the cylinder quite as quickly, and when the motor is started, it simply blows it down the exhaust system where it burns off slowly as it gets hot enough to do so. So it eventually burns, but slowly so it's not so noticeable.

That's the explanation I've heard anyway. BTW, my Cam's been doing it for about 5 or 6 years now with no ill effects that I'm aware of.

The stalling is most likely unrelated. The oil burning could foul a plug I suppose, if it's bad enough.

So the mechanic said something about a power steering valve? I guess its heating up so hot that its causing the car to stall. How major is that? Cheap fix?

That and my car needs a tune up.
