3SFE Camry Troubles

Firstly , Yes...it is a 3sfe motor in a Gen 3. It is just one of the many daylight robberies handed to us by Toyota Sout Africa.

The Problem:
I notice my car is starting to use more oil than before, its about 6-8 pints between services. Most recently i noticed that the coolant level has started to drop.

Whatever power was there before, is still there, but i am concerned there might a bigger problem. I was thinking oil rings, but do not notice smoking when reving the car. Would one only see the smoke under load? or also in Neutral?

Then when it came to the coolant....i am thinking head gasket...as the car has no leaks of oil or coolant...

Any ideas..., i am planning on doing a compression test as well.
