3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hello to all, I have a 1994 camry v6 xle with 170k+ miles and just acquired a 1999 es300. The es300 had a broken head due to the VVT-i sensor being rusted in and when removed busted the head the block was still good. They let it sit there and sold it to me for cheap. I replaced both heads, gaskets, water pump, tensioners, knock senors, one VVT-i sensor everything was new along with ngk iridium plugs, toyota coolant and transmission fluid. during the rebuild i took pictures along the way to document the rebirth of this beauty. so far i've added 18" chrome wheels, hids 10000k and 3500k and k&N drop in filter.
well here are the pics they arent the best due to my phone but they are decent.
I love the Lexus ES300 from that generation.
I have so much respect for people who actually make lemonade out of lemons. Nice work, I really love that Lexus.
If I could, I would have one with the two tone Black up top, and dark grey for the bottoms, there is one around me, that when I see my aged camry, I am like damnn.

question: why didn't you clean the engine bay?
i had limited time in the garage i was using so i could really only focus on working on the engine, i figured id save it for when i detail the car later on. the previous owner treated the inteior poorly and i think they had a dog because lots of scratches on the leather but ive cleaned most of it up. i need to shampoo and condition the uphostryl and wax and buff the exterior

Did you end up using the composite type HG or the MLS?
The threads were excellent and i used MLS HG which are much better than the paper oem ones on the car lol
ah i see now. understood. i went throught that when i did my first engine swap on my wagon. but cleaned it before i showed it off hell lately it's been hard to keep things under wraps.
very nice job nonetheless i give you alot of props for it.
Lexus ES300, nice car, I love it. What is the rated power?
hey there the power for the 1mz fe vvt-i is 210 hp at 5800 rpm with 222 ftlb torque at 4400 rpm the power is much better than the 1mzfe and it comes smooth and fast especially compared to the 1mz in my camry. this thing really coasts well and you cant even feel the tranny shifting, lexus rides much better and quieter than camry
looks really good! the tints and rims makes it look fantastic not to mention the overall exterior condition looks near immaculate. props for finding it and fixing this beauty
