3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
well, i bought it for my wife. it arrived to us with only one mile showing on the odometer. its a 2010 Sienna and though it may not belong here, i wanted to share with you guys since i spend the majority of my time here. it really drives nice for what it is and the color is just great! it hauls our kids more than adequately, and has a lot of interior room. we're pleased with the purchase overall, save for the monthly payments. in the long run it'll be worth it though and i can justify having it since i still have my Camry SE, my RX-7's, and the RX-8. here are the pics:
cant say ive ever seen a shifter in a place like that
Yeah, a majority of minivans now sold today have moved there shifters from the column to the center console.
I guess, its another sign that let alone hardly anyone drives stick, & now cant even handle a auto column shifter.
Nice car overall, now lets see some SE Camry.

SADLY, SHE HAS MUCH MORE MODS...
Toyota did the same thing with the shifter on the last generation Highlander, pushing it up on the dash. The current generation highlander has the shifter in the more traditional location on the center console.
The new Venza has the shifter up on the dash too. Looks a little odd at first, but it allows for some serious storage in the center console.
ok, from popular demand, here are pics of my beloved SE that my wife hounded me to trade in, lol. its such a great car, i can't see myself getting rid of it. i can go from my RX-8 to my 10th Anniversary turbo RX-7 into the SE and still feel great about my driving experience. i am going to paint the car next month. it was crahsed and i bought it and fixed it and never painted it so its long overdue. please excuse the filthy interior..its my daily driver and could stand to be vacuumed and i need to locate a newly used oem leather steering wheel for it:
to add to that, i personally will not own a car that has an automatic transmission. just don't care for them. the auto in the van is great for the wife and she likes it but auto boxes are just not for me.
a word of advice about that sienna: those engines had some kind of problem with the VVT oil line. there was a pretty nice size thread about it in the gen 5&6 forums. you should check it out.
thanks for the advice!! i'm just glad the thing is under warranty for a long time, lol! i'll check out the thread and see what good advice those guys have over there
again, thak you for the advice! after some research it seems that after 08,Toyota replaced the rubber hose with a steel line that has solved the problem! i'll check on teh Sienna tomorrow just to be sure
