1992 Camry 4cyl engine miss

I have a 1992 Camry 4cyl that stalled out on me and and had no spark, so I changed the coil and took it for a ride and it stalled out again no spark again. Then I changed the igniter with a good used one still no start. Then I changed the distributor with a re manufactured one It started and ran fine no stalling, but now when I put it in reverse or drive it runs fine for a mile or two and then it misses like its going to stall, but doesn't. I don't trust it to drive it more than a couple of miles, cause I don't want it to stop on me again. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

I agree with chronoti.

In my personal experience, every time I've had misfires, it was due to spark plugs. It was never really the wires either, but they could cause that too.

And of course... clean out the throttle body.

Right so it probably has nothing to do with the previous problems? Just needs a basic tune up?

Most missfiring happens when the car is under load.

How many miles are on this car? How old are the plug wires, the distributor cap and the rotor?

I changed the plugs drove the car for a while it ran great after about 20 min it started misfiring again. 5 minutes later it stalled out and won't start. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy at this point.

How old are the leads? There should be a date code on the wires itself. Interesting that replacing the spark plugs made it run for 20 mins though.

Is there heaps of fuel on the plugs? Is it only one cylinder?

No, there wasn't tons of fuel on the plugs. As far as the plug wires I was going to change them, but I thought it should still run even if a wire is in bad shape it would just misfire a lot not stall and not start again right?

Could it be the crank shaft position sensor?

Check the coil inside the new distributor. Yes, I know it's a rebuilt distributor, but they may have not replaced the coil. It's one of 2 things that usually go out when weak when they heat up. The other thing that comes to mind is the fuel pump, but you said in your first post you have a no spark problem when the car dies, not a fuel problem.
