3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just want to say hi
I'm 19 and I've had my Emrald Green 92 Camry for about 14 months now, and i just got her(i call her Iggy Initail D fans will get that) paid off
Since its so cheap even with my two speeding tickets I've decide to keep her untill i have enough money to my a car for 5-6 grand so at least two more yrs. (hopefully a GSX/Tsi or a turboed civi/teggi)
My cam is a 2.2 so shes not fast by any means but the tuner in me wont let me keep her stock so i want to do some stuff and ill be updating every now and then to show her off. subs and a ram air or just a cone filter, and some more little stuff coming soon.
all i've done so far is cheapo fog lights, Head unit, blue lights in the trunk and few other little things, but I've got a long list of things to come.
i have a few Qs if any one wants to answer
1. Does anyone have any front lip suggestions?
2. Are the "camry" letters on a 3.5 gen trunk garnish glued on, or will they leave holds if removed. I want to swap cuz mine r crack on the bottom and i like the 3.5s better.
3. what is involved in swaping to 3.5 gen headlights, grill and hood? will it all bolt on? can i keep my 3rd gen bumper?
heres a pic of Iggy right now. srry its so small its the only pic i have other then ones from the day i got her.
2. yes they will leave holes when removed just paint match your gen 3 just tape over the reverse looks hella good search around you can find a few pics.
3.just lights grill and a small metal retainter from behind the light, unless you want the turn signal too the you need the bumper
4. look at the turboing your camry thread and search her for 3s-gte and 5s-gte, it leave a civic in the dust and still be mega sleeper.

alraight thanks. bumer that u need the bumpr for the 3.5 gen conversion. i dont like the bumper.
i know it bumps up in the middle but i thought mabey i could fill the gap. Do the headlights actually go down lower? or is there more to it then that?

the headlights sit at teh same level as the gen3 but its the lip on the 3.5 bumper that you wont have.
as far as lip options you have the RMM lip, which is expensive and crazy, and the taurs lip. if you click on my car domain link you cna see pics of it on my car. also FLIPPkid(if thats right), eyeball96, spitfire and a few others have it installed as well. its a VERY cheap and easy to do mod that looks pretty good.
I think this is the first thread where I have actually seen people telling someone to turbo their Camry
I'm guessing it's because he didnt ask how to turbo it. I must congratulate the OP on that.
The headlights are the same height, except the are longer. The grille is where it would throw it off because it wont sit flush, being too small height wise. You could just run grilleless.
Honestly, if you want a fast car, you could turbo your Camry, but it would be cheaper, faster, and much more ethical to purchase a car thats designed to go fast. Hence a GSX, Tsi, MR2, MK3 Supra, Mustang, etc.

i like all of ur suggestions except the mustang unless mabey its a fox body
Honesty if my camry was a V6 i would really think about moding it power wise. infact the more i look on this site the more i consider a 3.5 gen camry coupe w/ a V6 as my next car. lol

If you're a standard transmission lover, then you should know that the v6 coupes don't come with a standard transmission. You would have to swap. Plenty of people could give you info on the swap. But man, a standard really let's that 1mz loose!
i can tell you now that, there are so much to do to a camry just like how much you can do to a civic or teg. But first off, imma show you 3 different lip on 2 different cars. You choose which suits you better.
This is the Razzi Front Lip for gen 3.5 bumper on a 4dr.
This is the RMM Front Lip for gen 3.5 bumper on a 4dr.
This is the RMM(Rod Millen Motorsport) Front lip for the gen 3.5 bumber on a 2dr.
This is the RMM front lip for the gen 3 front bumper on a 2dr. If you notice, this one have the JDM 1 piece headlight.
i personally would say no turbo, UNLESS you are willing to put in the time, money and effort to do it right. it sounds easier then it is. especially if your auto, then turbo would be usless and youd smoke...V6 auto camrys. its origional and i think alot cooler then a mainstream modded car but you have to put alot of dedication into such a thing.
those r 3rg gens w/ 3.5 bumpers. they must have cut of that lip on the top of the 3.5 bumper to fi the 3.5 grill i like the look of the RMM fo the 3.5. on a 3.

@ Bigbird & Gothmog3VZ - YA both spelled it wrong haha! its FLIP(space)K1DD
@ 92camrySK8ER - keep your cam man! once you finish it people are gonna be like wtf?! camry? lol. check out (i think it is) Camricer. his is badasssssssss. but yea if you get a RMM lip, im going to have to say, ID BE HELLA JELOUS OF YOU!
that would work cept he wants gen3.5 headlights and grill and to keep his gen3 bumper. whch cant really be done as yours was. im sure he would work it but hed basically have to modify a gen3 grill or his bumper.
