Fun with "burned out light" dash light

Okay so I took the Camry out this morning and it was fairly cold out, may have been in the low 30's.

The light that indicates "burned out brake light" came on after the engine started, and stayed on. I checked every external light on the car and every light was lit.

Parked it, then started it up about 8 hours later when it was nice and warm out, and the light went away!

Is the system that determines if a light is out broken, or is there something else I need to look at?

almost dead light bulb, it measures resistance to know if a bulb is blown, colder bulb means lower resistance
