On the gen3.5, the bumpers were pretty much the same, but the headlights were unique. Whereas the North American models simply had low beams (9006) on the outside, high beams (9005) on the inside, the JDM models had H4 lo/hi beams on the outside and integral fogs on the inside of the headlight housing.
The ironic thing is that every gen 3 wagon was made exclusively in Georgetown, Kentucky and all the JDM models were exported to Japan. Then the wagon market dried up in the U.S. (but not in Japan), so Toyota made all the gen4 wagons in Japan and sold them only there.
Back to gen4s. There was one more model that was even better equipped.
It was called the Mark II Qualis. Imagine a "nicer" or more luxury oriented Camry Gracia Wagon.
To give you a bit of history, some of you may remember the Toyota Cressida from the '80s until the early '90s. The Cressida was known as the Mark II in Japan and it was always available as a sedan and a wagon. The Mark II sedan has always been a very popular model and the Mark II wagon was also popular in the it had a particular niche market of people wanting a larger station wagon. Tha same wagon model was made for 13 years (1984-1997).
In 1998, Toyota introduced the Mark II Qualis, based on the Camry Gracia.
Aside from the detail touches, the key difference was engine availability.
The Camry Gracia wagon was available with a V6, but the V6 was a 2MZ-FE (2.5L). The Mark II Qualis was available with the 3.0L 1MZ-FE.
