3rd Generation Suspension question

Hey I took my 93 Camry to the mechanic because it's been making a terrible loud rattling noise when I go over bumps and things like that. They showed me that I needed bushings, but also another part too. They look like 4 arms reaching to the rear wheels and he said that they are adjustable. If it helps, they grabbed the wheels and started shaking them back and forth and showed me that the whole wheel was moving and this is what was causing the vibration. Any ideas on what the arms are called and where I can get them from? I can post pics of the arms later if need be. Thanks.!

rear control arms and thats CRAP.

you need rear sway bar end links if anything maybe new sway bar bushings. i would say too rear wheel bearing search on here for ways to find exactly which you need to replace.

They are called the "Rear Lateral Contol Rods" number 1 and number 2. Number 2 is the rear most one on each side with the alignment adjusting sleeve for the rear wheels. I had to replace the rear-most one (number 2) on the driverr side of my 94 Camry due to a rattle. With the car off the ground you could also grab the wheel at 3:00 and 9:00 and shake it and reproduce the rattle. The rubber bushing was shot. To my knowledge the bushings are not replacable and the arms themselves are only available from the dealer. They run about $160 each and then the car needs a 4 wheel alignment.

So you mean I would have to buy two #2 lateral control rods (left and right) which would run $320? Plus the alignment right?

If both rear wheels are moving when you grab them at 3:00 and 9:00 with the wheels off the ground, then yes, that's correct. If the rubber bushings in these rods are both bad you will probably also hear a clunk with this test. You can test this yourself using the car's scissors jack at each side. Just be vary carefull about getting under there with just the scissors jack.
