94 le transmission question

the front differential on my 94 went out and im wondering how much a new transmission would cost,and where to by one.

Was the problem with the differential spider? That's the weakest part because the small gear sizes. They usually break if a wheel spins and then suddenly gets traction. The load just shatters them.

Try Jasper Engines, with 3-year/100K mile warranty, like all good reman should: http://www.jasperengines.com/transmissions.php

Check rockauto.com for Marshall too.

If you're mechanically inclined and if all else are good, then swap out the differential unit. Call Transtar:

I highly recommend that you only go to a local ATRA shop -- Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association. Still get references if you can.

what happened was a sudden jerk like i hit something.. the whole car felt like it locked up... sorry i cant explain it well. it did this 2 times and on the 3rd time i couldnt get power to the wheels.

so i just checked the price and it came out to $2800... looks like im getting a new car

Something got caught and then broken? Maybe the differential is gone? Torque converter disintegrated? Don't know.

Another thing to consider is a junk yard transmission. Labor to install may be around $600. Whole thing around $1000? 3 months warranty parts only if even that long.

It's a craps shoot however.
