What is this used for?

My dad ran over this in my neighborhood right in front of our house. If I can prove this was left on the street by the chumps working on the roof I might be able to get the money back for my brand new tire that got popped in 3 places due to this.

Any idea?

if it's from roofers, then the only thing i can think of is a bracket to mount rain gutters with, or maybe for some odd roof vent thing. look closely at things attached to the roof and nearby areas and see if you can find something similar or something that would snap into this bracket, assuming that the flat back part would be screwed/nailed into something solid.

good luck getting them to pay up though - most construction/contractors will just laugh at you.

hey bud. I work at home depot for a little extra cash. That actually looks like it is the bracket that holds stables in a staple gun/ nails in a nail gun. There is supposed to be a spring attached to it, that compressses the staples towards the front of the gun. That is plausible, although I doubt it.

If its on the street though, probability is that you won't find out where it came from anyway, without any evidential proof.
