3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a set of fog lights around. I have a switch & such, but I want to keep it as OEM as possible, I really dont want to use the switch, I much rather splice into the parking/running lights, and have the fogs run when ever the parking lights are on.
Where should I splice, how should I hook up?
Any other ideas?

I think it is better to have a seperate switch for different auxilary items. You can put switches in discrete places to keep the OEM look. I prefer the OEM look too, but I have a smaller switch I fitted into the tiny plastic piece that covers the screws under the ignition.
But going the other way, the easiest place to cut/splice is to take out the lamp for the corner light and splice at that connection.
Thanks.
I think I might heed your answer, Where can I go through the firewall withyout drilling?

theres a spot up and to the left of the brake pedal. it runs through the wheel well into the engine bay. remove your front left wheel, and the plastic wheel well covering, and you'll see it.

ehhh not exactly. you'll see where other wires are running through... you just have to push it through the rubber boot. or just CAREFULLY cut another hole and seal it.

thx guys, well i tackled it earlier in the day. I wired them to directly to the battery cable for the time being.
I didnt have to go thru the rubber boot, my Camry had keyless entry on the Cam, and I completely forgot about the hole made, until i took off my splash guard.
tucked the wires for the most part.
I may throw up pics.
They were cheap, on sale for 13 bucks. glass lense, and steel housing.
They were really bright, so I bought some light film, "JDM Yellow" to tone down the light, it looks sharp, time to wait for night fall.

Here's some pics, the final version is at the bottom. The first, just to see how the lights would look. The second one is my lights in a bright area at night, just to see. & the third, the finished product.
Test Fit
The fogs lit before true mounting, and clear lens. Along with low beams.
After real mounting, and affixing of "Yellow Lens Film". It came out really nice IMO.

yeah, i do most of my driving in NYC, so no need for much use for the fog lights. & the 9006 to 9005 "mod" wasnt necessary, but once I left the city, usually once a week on a night drive, my lights left a lot to be desired. So I got some Phillips Night Guide bulbs, and theyre nice. Some cool tri-color thing. white, yellow, & blue.

Those look sweet! I did the 9005 mod too, it's so simple but so effective
Thanks!
Yeah I agree, it was really simple, & my light output was much better.
Stock Camry headlights are .
