clicking on one corner

a kind of rapid clicking on driver side front corner developed in the last two days. is this a common sound for impending strut failure? my strut boot is gone already.

could it be the end links?

Are you hearing this noise when making right turns? If so, it's most likely the cv joint that is bad.

right. forgot to mention - this is not like a cv click. it happens only when the corner rebounds from a bump.

Are you talking about a clicking noise, or 1 clunk when rebounding or going over a bump? Also, waht year is the car?

it could be the upper strut mount itself - gen4 had a real problem with these when new, and even with the updated part it still does it some. but check to make sure none of the 4 nuts you can see from the top of the car w/ hood up are loose - any of those could make some major rattles as well. to check teh center one, bounce the car while looking at it - if you see it moving up and down seperately, its loose. it should pretty much follow the movement of the black metal of the upper strut mount.

That's what I was thinking too, and why I posted my last question about the year of the car. It wasn't all the generation 4 models; only the 97-99 models that had problems with the upper strut mounts. The mount was changed beginning with model year 2000.

unfortunately it's a 93 v6 LE. i did a bounce test this morning and the strut performed superbly. I'm think it's just noisy endlinks now.
