Angry My Window is Actin' Funny.....

One of my windows will go down with no problem when I hit the switch......but getting it back up us a different story. It will only go up a little bit at a time. Sometimes I have to turn my car off and let it sit for a while and then try again to get it to only come up an inch at a time. This goes on all day of course until the window is all the way up. What is causing this problem?

The same exact thing happens with my gen 3 driver window.. it seems like the winding mechanism that's connected to the motor is losing grease, so what I did was take the motor out and where the gear that connects to the winding mechanism, I put more grease on and it helped a bit, still not fully though..

Sounds like you'll need a new power regulator/motor. Same thing happened to my '01. Eventually then it stopped going down too. Just go to ebay and get get one of the cheap window regulators. Then follow this awesome DIY DIY Replace Window Regulator - Camry 92-96 & Equivalent Models

You might want to take out the motor though and test it on the battery, if it works then it would be a grease issue. But most commonly the main problem is the motor.

Same thing happened to my 99 Camry. I replaced the motor and it worked for a while then started binding again. Replace the regulator with one of those Ebay models and it did not work well at all. Replaced regulator with OEM part and all is well. I would not waste any more money on Ebay regulators.

i have replaced it with 2 off eBay. It is much cheaper but it is what you get for 1/2 price items. If you are lucky, it will work for a long time

Its the window motor. If you have a power probe, it will make your life easy. It sure did with my window problem. (but the power probe is pretty expensive). To make sure its the motor, remove the door panel from the door, and find the wire that connects to the motor. Remove the clip and apply the power probe to the wire. If it moves, then its not the motor and the problem is the switch. If it does not move, then it is the motor. My problem was the master switch for crying out loud. But luckily, the switch inside was dirty and was making a bad connection and a little cleaning did the job.
