Camry Mounts Question

As signature shows... 2000 Camry 2.2 334k+ miles.

I've read some threads about aftermarket mounts being bad. Last year when I replaced my timing belt, I also replaced the dogbone mount with one from eBay. I'm noticing now that it is slightly cracking with some brown discoloration. I am not feeling any shaking at idle, but the visual appearance does not seem good.

At my mileage, should I replace ALL of the mounts? Other than the easy dogbone, where are the rest? Are there any DIY's for those here? And do I need any special equipment for that big one I can see attached the engine or transmission at the front?

I figure if I should replace them all, and if OEM is best for these, I could buy them all at once from the dealer and ask for a discount.

at your mileage it is safe to say that it might be time to replace your motor mounts. even if they are fine, considering your mileage this may be considered preventative maintenance seeing as how the rubber from you dogbone mount is all ready deteriorating.

if you have a 5sfe then you can use this diy for all the mounts:
5SFE Motor Mount How-to

also if you are considering replacing the dogbone mount, i'd suggest that you swap it with the gen4 motor mount and mount bracket. if you look at them side by side you can tell the gen4 was redesigned and is much better. however id reccomend that you get some new hardware with this because when i did the swap, i got a little bit of play that is bothersome during a cold start; specifically the half threaded bolt that goes through the mount and connects with the mounting bracket.

here is a link to the diy gen3 to gen4 dogbone mount and bracket swap:

this is what my dogbone looked like by the time i did the gen4 dogbone swap

Engine mounts I'd use only OEM Toyota. Consider getting all four. Just saw a DIY on how easy to replace these.

DIY: Front Motor Mount Replacement Pictorial Guide

Engine mounts also affect the longevity of halfshaft boots. In the installation instructions of halfshafts they ask you to check the condition of the engine mounts.

All four? I thought there were three? Front engine, back engine, and "torque strut mount."

Where the hell is the other one!?

My bad. I group all four together as a complete engine mount job.

The driver side one is the transmission mount. Mostly of flexible rubber that may have a few wrinkles and minor cracks, but is usually in good shape for reuse.
