Questions about 3VZ water pump repalcement.

Allrighty, I was having trouble w/ coolant overflow and leaks, and I guess the pump finally gave up the ghost, because I can fill from the top and watch it dribble out from what I'm guessing is the weep hole on the bottom. My haynes repair manual is fuzzy on what I have to actually pull off to access the wp. To replace it, can I just remove the timing belt, mark everything so I can reuse it, leave all the pulleys/tensioners and such on, then replace the wp, or do I have to remove more than just the belt?

Whenever you replace the water pump, replace the timing belt (and other drive belts as well). If you have more than 60K miles I'll do the pulleys as well (some wait until > 120K miles). So YMMV.

I like to use Gates belts and hoses, but you may prefer OEM (Dayco-, Brando-branded Toyota belts). Look at a Gates Timing Component Kit. It'll have the belt, pulleys and a brief instruction sheet. rockauto.com.

I'd remove the pulleys, crank sprocket, sensors, so coolant doesn't soak them. Might want to check Autozone's free repair guide, with registration.

I'm short on cash so I'm gonna wait on the t-belt. Can I just mark the belt/pulleys, remove the tension, and unbolt/slide the wp out, or do I have to pull off more than that?

bumpin this again!

How do I get the RH mounting bracket out? Specifically, how do I get the bottom right bolt out? It feels like it's stopping me from pulling the bracket up (kinda to the right too) and out.

Edit- OIC, looks like the stock engine mount bracket has clearance issues. I guess I'll just cut the bolt and toss it after grabbing the updated version.

The ASC water pump is the latest Toyota version. On applications with the 3VZFE engine 6/91-8/92, you also need to replace the engine mount bracket. Apparently, there is a clearance problem on these models and the updated bracket is needed to solve it. Bracket part # 12315-62031
