Noise from dash light dimmer?

When I dim my dash lights via the dial on the left of the steering column I get a faint buzzing sound. It doesn't make any noise when the dial is turned all of the way up (brightest dash light setting), only when I have it dimmed. Does anyone else have this annoying problem or has heard of it? What would it take to fix this prob? Thanks for any and all input!

Never heard of buzzing before. my dimmer did melt though... some think that this may be why some many people have ALL their dash lights fail at the same time. simple junk yard part find and replacement if that's the case.

If you want to take off the dash and look at the dimmer itself, there's a DIY on how to remove the dash in the How-To Sticky at the top of the forum.

Are the dimmers notorious for going out?

I believe the general opinion is that they are. I'd still just check it for visible melting.
