06/96 5SFE ECU donor vehicles?

I think I have a bad ECU and I'm trying to identify suitable donor vehicles for my junkyard run.

Here's the catch - it's a late run 1996 motor which has a Crank Position sensor on the oil pump and a two wire distributor sensor instead of having the ignition sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor assembly in the distributor. I would think that the ECU woul be different since these inputs are different.

I checked the Crank Sensor and had 1365 Ohms with no shorts to ground. I also checked the Ignition sensor and had 165 Ohms with no shorts to ground.
The car runs and drives fine but is throwing code 0340 within 10 seconds of start up. I need to clear the problem for Emissions inspection or get free colonoscopies from the State troopers every time I drive w/o a valid inspection sticker -- the car passed safety w/ o issue )

I think I must have damaged the computer while correcting a chronic EGR flow too low issue. ( I had to reset the computer about 20 times...)

If the Sensors were bad it would not run, I assume. (I'll go unplug them mand see...

Back to the ECU - I went looking online for ECU's at the various parts places (RockAuto, etc) to see if they might have had an "application cross reference" (parts that fit multiple cars, by part number) (just did this with my 88 Nissan Pu of which there are none in the junk yard -- turns out the motor shares a few parts with an Inifiniti G20 . )

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.. ken

If you go over to www.toyodiy.com/parts and punch in your VIN, you can look up your ECU part number (excuse me...COMPUTER, ENGINE CONTROL part number). Then head over to one of the online OEM parts dealers (such as www.1sttoyotaparts.com/partscat.html ), and look up the ECU part number. If it was used on multiple cars, you'll have multiple cars listed on the search results.

I don't hold out much hope, 'tho -- ECUs usually don't interchange very well.

Did that and got the following part numbers based on my VIN

89661-06310 - LE AT
89661-06310 - DX AT
89661-06310 - XE AT

89661-06260 - DX MT

89661-06270 - DX AT
89661-06270 - XLE AT
89661-06270 - LE AT

I think it will be a 89661-06310. Bloody things are expensive (1600 USD) -- much more than I expected (6-800.00)

I just need to elimate the ECU as the problem, so it's off to the junk yard but at least I have an Idea of the suitable donor cars.
