Hissing noise when car idles only - 1993 Toyota Camry 2.2L

I just finished installing my cylinder head and everything else on my 193 Toyota Camry. Car started up great. The only thing I notice is when the car idles I hear a hissing noise. I tried to track it down, but have not as of today. As soon as I give it gas it stops immediately. Just wondering if anyone had a clue here. I am starting to suspect the EGR, but I am not sure. All the hoses were put back properly as well as everything else. Like I said the car really runs great other than this. Maybe it is normal? Not sure.

You'll often get a (normal) bit of hissing from the throttle area when it's fully closed -- it's not a perfect seal, so you'll get a bit of airflow around the edges of the throttle. If the hissing goes away even with a teeny bit of throttle, then that's probably the source.

Thanks for posts. I put my hand under the throttle body near the EGR and the sound changed. I placed all new gaskets on when I the head and everything else went back togeather. I am going to check into it more tomorrow. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well I found the problem. Of all the bolts, hoses, and gaskets I had to install the one that was installed upside down was the throttle body gasket. After spaying some carb cleaner in the area I noticed that the noise stopped for a moment. This was underneath the throttle body so the gasket did not cover this area. After going back to my shop manual and reading that the gasket protrusion has to be on the underside I checked my throttle body again after removing it. The gasket was wrong. Of course I installed it wrong. The gasket was placed upside down. It mounted perfectly this way, but does not work allowing air to suck in. I replaced the gasket and mounted it according to specs and the suction is gone. Now I have to time it correctly. Thanks again for all of your posts. Maybe this will help out someone having a problem like mine.
