4th Generation flushed brakes, now ticking at idle from rear

hello,

it's not a problem or any sort of major issue.
just curious what it might be. after my 2000 solara i4 had a brake flush a funny ticking sound started coming from the rear of car - it's neither of sides, i believe i can hear it most in the middle.
it's a faint sound, can hear hear it only at idle in parking lot in fairly quiet areas (especially at night).

i flushed brakes with a vacuum pump and Valvoline DOT3&4 less than a month ago, all went well, however rear brakes had lost of air (especially passenger side) in them. i bled them in this order: RP, RD, FP, FD.

am i missing something? like another bleeding valve in the middle or some magic trick i was supposed to do while bleeding brakes (regular DIY, nothing crazy).

i thought the sound maybe goes away after a while ... well it didn't.

it's just a sminor annoyance, but am very curious...

I am guessing it is not brake related at all, exhaust heat shield?

Yeah, if it's not moving it's not the brakes. +1 exhaust.

will try to describe the sound tomorrow evening. sorry, solara is not my daily driver . need to listen to it again, as i forgot what it was alike.

you know that's funny. once i started talking about it out loud, the sound disappeared making me look like a lunatic
however i heard a single click coming from rear driver drum (e-brake applied) whenever i was pressing on brake pedal.

might also need to check the rear drums for sticking/clicking brakes. but that will have to wait. i will try adjusting rear drums with a star screw or what was its name.

also i noticed the e-brake is catching higher than in past, might need to adjust that too. currently even at 8 clicks on handbrake, car pulls forward.

do i have maybe a proportioning valve somewhere? someone asked if car has ABS, yes it does as far as i know.

as per noise description... well i haven't heard it for a few days, but as far as i remember it was similar rather to steady metallic clicking (pace almost same as engine idle, maybe even slower).
i think that might be exhaust related as you pointed out.
it seems i could hear it much better before resetting ECU due to spark plugs & wires swap from Bosch to NGK and cleaning the TB about 2 weeks ago. might be that ECU finally got properly adjusted only after swap to plugs/wires it likes LOL

tell me if what i say is completely upside down, wrong or nonsense (non-mechanical, learning dude here).

"also i noticed the e-brake is catching higher than in past, might need to adjust that too. currently even at 8 clicks on handbrake, car pulls forward."

Sounds like you need to adjust the rear brake shoes a bit tighter (closer to the drums). There should be a bit of drag when you spin the drum.

"it seems i could hear it much better before resetting ECU due to spark plugs & wires swap from Bosch to NGK and cleaning the TB about 2 weeks ago"

None of these services would require resetting the ECU.

Mike

thanks Mike. this weekend I will adjust the rear brakes first to see if it helps.

the reason I reset ECU was to make it adapt faster to new/different plugs, wires and higher fuel grade. wasn't sure if it was necessary, but since my car was running not right with Bosch parts, I just reset it. the reason was even better because I had to disconnect battery anyways for terminal cleaning and re-seating the battery properly on a tray (clamping arm was holding it down improperly).
