Engine/Transmission Mounts Question.

These are the prices from one dealer in my area:

Front, $135.38
Torque/Dogbone, $54.30
Rear, $102.59
Transmission, $88.51

Totaling $380.78, roughly $413 after tax.

I'm thinking MAYBE I can get them to knock down the price $50 or so.

As far as I know, Beck/Arnley is supposed to be a good brand. If I bought their mounts on RockAuto, the total after shipping minus TN discount would be $221.36.

There's also this "Anchor" brand.

eBay/Amazon no-name 4-piece kits run $120-200.

I bought an aftermarket dogbone mount last year to replace my original. It is already starting to break and crack. This could mean my front engine mount is bad, or it could mean it was made of cheap materials. I don't recall the brand, but I can find out tomorrow.

I've read that OEM mounts are better. I'm curious though, better than what? Better than the no-name eBay kits, or better than ANY aftermarket mount brand?

Are there places to buy cheaper new OEM Toyota mounts/parts?

Input appreciated.

So are you saying that softer rubber is better than harder rubber? There was one eBay listing advertising that the rubber in their mounts was harder and therefor better than OEM's.

Beck/Arnley brand isn't that great the bushing was already torn after a year of having the mount on. Better stick with OEM

with mount i would ONLY go with OEM. they are said to last longest than any aftermarket units.

try looking up part numbers in OEM catalog or mechanical catalog on www.1sttoyotaparts.com
i guarantee that total will land around 1/2 of local dealer price and what's best is NO SALES tax (depends on your state).

good luck!

e.g. i bought whole water pump/timing parts job from them and paid around $160 for everything including s/h.
the dog bone for my car cost with them like $33 (plus s/h).

$268.11 shipped on 1sttoyotaparts. Pretty damn good.

toyotapartsales.com isn't loading right now so I'll have to check that out later.

Something seems to be up (or down!) with "trademotion."

Ok, yes, that place is about $30 cheaper than the website for that Dallas dealer.

In fact, I don't know why I ever buy anything through my local dealership. 1sttoyotaparts is like 30% cheaper on everything.

For diddly stuff (like when I need a couple 2' lengths of vacuum hose), the $10 minimum shipping charge at 1sttoyota is kind of a problem. You can only stock up on oil filters so many times...

yeah, ordering cheap single pieces doesn't make sense via internet as shipping charges eat up all the savings. i usually bother my local dealer whenever i need crap like single bolts, studs, clips, springs, caps, etc.
for all the rest i love ordering from trademotion partners (whoever comes up cheapest).
