Federal O2 vs Cali O2

I changed my O2 sensor but i put a Federal one instead of a Cali, now knowing my car was a Cali registered emission. However, i live in CT and i was wondering what would be the efect of my vehicle by using a Federal O2 instead of a Cali, and there are 2 O2 Upstream and Downstream.

As ASG said, the Calif. cars have an AIR-FUEL sensor.....the Federal cars have an Oxygen sensor. They look the same....but they OPERATE differently. I would doubt that your Calif. engine will run correctly (or at all) with an Oxygen sensor installed. It is CERTAIN that the signal from the sensor (to the computer) will be WRONG, regardless. The engine may operate in a "fail-safe" mode.....but it won't operate correctly. So, my advice is not to drive the car like this - install the CORRECT part.
