question about safety neutral switch

my safety neutral switch is bad, sometimes my car wont start and ill have to pull the lever down a little to reverse to start, and what not, now my reverse light wont come on no more and when i press the brakes while driving the R on the gauge cluster comes on,

anyways, a couple of people told me that its not big deal really if i can live with it, being as a new neutral safety switch is expensive, what i want to know is what the worse that can happen with this? will things get worse? or can i use the shift trick to start the car when it dosent want to start foreveer? honestly i just need this car for another 3 months. 3 months from now im driving from here new york, to orlando where the car will be garaged, but of course i just want to make sure i get there, i have 210k miles on the car its in pretty good condition exscept the suspension needs work, but i just need it to get me to orlando 3 months from now,

so anyway i just wanted to know if things will and can get worse if i dont replace the safety neutral switch?

i spoke to another mechanic that told me that it should;t get any worse than it is, the only problem i will have is the inconvenience that sometimes the car wont start and i will have to turn the ignition while shifting into reverse but thats about it, and also i wont have a reverse light, but other than that i shouldt experience any other problems, anybody second that?
