3rd Generation 1993 Vs 2010?

Recently I had the opportunity to drive a 2010 Camry LE 4cyl for a day when I dropped off my 1993 V6 LE for a timing belt service at a local Toyota Delership. They gave me the 2010 Camry LE for a loaner. Here are my impressions.
1. Quality on the 1993 seemed much better, my 2010 loaner with only 323 miles had creases in the cloth back seats unlike my 1993.
2. Did not feel as solid as my 1993, in regards to road noise, overal feel.
3. Although the 4cyl had pep, it consumed gas at a much higher rate than my V6!
If I was in the market for a new Camry, I don't know if I would be buying new?.............Am I halucinating about this?...........

I feel the same on a lot of the new Toyotas.

Maybe it's because the old ones were made in Japan and the newer ones are made in a lot of places now?

well my 1996 v6 le vs 2007 tch vs 2005 i4 le
tch has keyless everything door auto open when you touch the handle push button ignition
tch better gas mileage
about the same engine noise for all
stock 96 non jbl system i think sounds better
v6 faster than the tch and thats faster than the i4
96 better a/c
96 better interior layout, seat material (all 3 cloth)
tch better climate control (i want the 96 xle control might be on par then)
tch bluetooth integration sucks
road noise levels ... about the same, i haven't drove the i4 with the engine cut off
wot sounds well .... tch STOCK, my v6 with a sri sounds better, BUT the tch stays at redline from 0 till you let off, the v6 you know changes gears,

over all i have been given options to take any of these cars i taken the 96, but the 05 ismy sisters and the tch my mom's

Sounds like the other car dove under yours, not because your car was more stout.

Toyota requested bail out from Japanese government just as American car manufacturers asked for them from US government.

and they also hit the nail on the head with their new Genisis Coupe, that thing is just a perfect example of a sports car. Now if that new Toyota/Subie baby is ever put into production...

probably did, but my car didnt lift off the ground. my car took a big impact all her paint was sticked in to my bumper. 88-91 camry bumpers are really strong. get a baseball bat and beat the shitouta it and nothing will happen to it. even the paint they put on those bumpers are very durable.

New Toyotas are s**t plain and simple. My theory is the following: any Toyota built after 2001 is worthless in my eyes. I was at the auto show a couple of months ago and got into the new V6 XLE, essentially a 2010 version of my car and was tremendously disappointed by the quality of the finish on the inside. I opened the trunk and observed a gap between the taillight assembly and the lens!! And this is the car they bring to the Auto Show!!!!

Everything felt SO cheap as compared to my '95. My car feels solid on the road. Even the difference between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 is pretty dramatic. I believe that the Gen 4 has one less strip of weatherstripping around the doors as compared to Gen 3. You are right in your assessment that the Gen 3-3.5 is MUCH better than 2010. The Koreans are slowly learning and catching up... If I were to buy a brand new car today, odds are it would be a Honda, not a Toyota.

My uncle's old 93 LE (Made in Japan) has never seen regular maintenance done to it other than changing the oil. It's a miracle that it's still running now.

But yeah, the thing's a tank.

He bought it new.

I like the 2010. My mom bought one. I do agree that quality has taken a dive. But with time people get greedy and more profits are seeked, and things like this happen. They're still GREAT cars.

I do like my 96 more though.
